The Secret To Maintaining A Clean, Classy And Chic Wardrobe All Year Round

It's simple,..

The secret to maintaining a clean, classy, chic wardrobe are regular wardrobe updates. If you're anything like me, you've been caught out a few times by the change in seasons (usually the summer months). This scenario often led to me running out to the nearest high street to stock up on new seasonal essentials without first taking stock of what I needed.

My recommendation is that twice a year, just before Spring and Autumn, you do a thorough seasonal overhaul. This is an opportunity to put all out of season clothes into storage, review your style and current lifestyle, consider what you want your Spring and Autumn wardrobe to look like and to shop for a few pieces.

In addition to the seasonal overhauls, we recommend mini updates twice a year to ensure that you have appropriate an d sufficient clothing for the warmer and colder weather. This could mean checking your stock of jumpers, winter coats, gloves, bikinis and sandals. The mini updates should take a few hours because you should have done the bulk of your wardrobe planning during the Autumn and Spring overhauls.

SEASONAL OVERHAULS

  1. Seasonal overhauls should take you 2 weeks.

  2. Move out of season pieces to storage as it is unlikely you will wear these pieces over the next 6 months. Move any seasonal pieces previously in storage back into your wardrobe, providing they still fit and are in a good condition.

  3. Collect some fresh new inspiration for your seasonal wardrobe (Pinterest is a great resource). This could include new colours, specific pieces, specific fabrics, outfit formulas and new styling tips to try out.

  4. Consider what your lifestyle might look like in the upcoming season as this will directly affect your wardrobe, activities you will need outfits for (such as  special occasions or trips).

  5. Go through your wardrobe and remove anything that does not fit in with your new  seasonal wardrobe vibes, put these items into storage or give them to charity.

  6. Consider what colours you want to wear this season as well as what basics, key and statement pieces you want to wear.

  7. Once you have cleared out your wardrobe, Identify your missing pieces, write a shopping list of what your need to buy and go shopping to finalise your seasonal wardrobe.

  8. Experiment with your new seasonal wardrobe, mix and match your new and old clothes and create different looks for different occasions.

MINI UPDATES
